Care and Maintenance Tips:
For you to enjoy your machine for longer, you must keep it in good working condition. This can be made possible by routine operational maintenance which can be done following the simple tips below:
Cleaning The Machine Surface
From time to time your machine gets dusty. If the dust remains, it could get into it and cause it to develop some faults, hence the importance of cleaning the surface. With the simple steps below, you can quickly remove dust from your machine:
- Disconnect the power cable before starting to prevent electric shock or other related injuries.
- Get a soft absorbent cloth and lightly soak it in neutral detergent and water solution
- Remove the cloth from the detergent and firmly squeeze out the liquid from it
- Use the moist soapy cloth once to clean the surface of the machine.
- After using the damp cloth to clean the surface, use a dry cloth to wipe it thoroughly to keep its surface shining.
Cleaning The Race
Once dust accumulates in the bobbin case, the performance of the machine will be affected. Do keep the bobbin case dust-free periodically for the machine to run smoothly. Do follow the simple maintenance steps below to rid the bobbin case of dust:
Turn the machine off then remove the power cable positioned at the right side of the machine to cut off the electric supply to it.
Detach the flatbed attachment or the embroidery unit whichever one you find attached.
Loosen the presser foot holder screw and bring out the presser foot holder. Now loosen the needle clamp screw and remove the needle.
Grip the two sides of the needle plate cover and then slide the plate towards you to remove it.
Hold the bobbin case then pull it gently to remove it.
Use a soft brush, or a vacuum cleaner to clean off any lint and dust from the race, bobbin thread sensor and its surrounding area. Never apply oil on the bobbin case. Note that the bobbin thread sensor must not carry dust else it would not work properly.
Place the bobbin case into position so that the projection on the bobbin case aligns with the spring. To get the position right, move the bobbin case right and left to make sure that the right side of the projection touches the spring and you find a space on the left side of the projection. If you install the bobbin case wrongly it would cause the needle to break.
Place the tabs on the needle plate cover into the needle plate then slide the cover closed.
Ensure the bobbin case remain unscratched else the upper thread may become tangled or worse the needle may break, or the sewing may be hindered.
FAQs about SE400:
Q: What Should I Do When My Machine Thread Gets Tangled?
A: When the machine thread gets tangled and stops it from turning, please do the following:
- Avoid turning the pulley by force because if you do the lower thread might not be picked up correctly and stitches might not be formed correctly.
- Remove the needle plate and cut the tangled threads with a scissors or cutter
Q: Why Does The Lower Thread Keep Breaking?
A: The reasons for breaking of the lower thread include:
- The thread might be tangled
- The bobbin could be threaded improperly in the shuttle hook
Try and re-thread the machine if wrongly threaded and untangle the machine (as above) to resolve any of the problems.
Q: How Do I Oil My Machine?
A: Oiling the machine should never be done by the user because the machine might be damaged in the process. The machine was manufactured with the needed amount of oil to ensure the machine runs correctly. It’s therefore unnecessary for the user to oil the machine. However, the machine becomes difficult to turn or noisy, then contact the dealer for help.
